Motivation: How to source it, and use it to your advantage

Motivation is the thing that gets us started on a transformation journey. It's also what stops us dead in our tracks when it disappears.

I truly believe that the reason for this, is a lack of awareness of our motivating drivers and a lack of attunement to ourself on a deep level.

For all intents and purposes, we have 2 main motivational drives, extrinsic and intrinsic.

Extrinsic is externally focused, while intrinsic is internally focused. The extrinsic usually burns white hot, and prompts us to immediate action. Intrinsic motivation is generally a much slower burn, and can be properly developed during contemplation phases, or pre action, as well as throughout every minute of every day.

The problem with adherence comes when we rely too heavily on either one of these forms of motivation. Too much white hot, and we burn out. Too little, and we don't take action. Too much slow burn and we don't take action, too little, and we only react to high dopamine states, and burn out, or get distracted.

Sources:

Extrinsic: books, music, podcasts, motivational speakers, social media influencers, comparing self to others.

Intrinsic:

Comes from truly knowing yourself and why you're doing what you're doing. Getting in touch with the following will make your success nearly inevitable.

Personality, Core Values, Purpose, Needs, Story Gap.

Here is a video of a live I did on this topic, it will explain in more depth. I hope you enjoy it!
